About Sasan Gir

Sasan Gir is home to the world renowned Gir Forest, the natural habitat of the Asiatic Lion. The Gir National Park and Sanctuary has a scenic charm and covers an area of 1412 square km of dry deciduous forest.

The tranquility of the Gir Forest, with its splendid flora and fauna, is a nature lover’s delight. Apart from the leopard, jungle cat and rusty spotted cat, the Gir Forest also is home to the cheetal, sambhar, four-horned antelope, wild boar and hare.

A bird watcher’s paradise, Gir has over 200 species of avi-fauna, including peacocks and parakeets. The lakes and perennial rivers enhance the serene surroundings of Gir.
